Staying Relevant-Finance Edition

relevance

By: Ms.J

Recently I decided to update my resume, which I have not done since I started my job last year. If you are not keeping a running tab of all the work you do at your job, when it is time to update your resume your mind can draw a blank. I have deduced that updating your resume can be just as hard as starting your resume from scratch. Where do you start? What do you keep or discard? Does this make sense? Am I putting all the critical details of my job ?

Staying relevant by keeping up with your resume, LinkedIn, job boards and other various career oriented internet sites are essential to your growth. As you update these items, many are watching and keeping a running tab of what you are doing. As times change, there may be an opening whether at your company or a new one that may consider you for this opportunity. At some point in your career path you may not need to apply to jobs, but be recruited based on your job profile on these various internet sites. It can be a tedious task but in the long run it can mean more money in your pocket.

Staying relevant is all apart of branding. Branding is not only for celebrities or famous people, it is for everyone. Building your brand allows you to stay relevant in your field. You may become a subject matter expert and/or an essential person in your department. Your brand is not limited to one place but rather you can take it anywhere you go and it speaks for yourself, however you have to let people become aware of it. Essentially, with time and diligence it will have a life of its own.

Rated S Trend Alert: Waist Shapers/Trainers and Corsets

By: Ms. J

As the saying goes, “Everything old will become new again.” Fashion is constantly recycled and with the introduction of technology it is increasing. Please note that by no means is Rated S condoning or promoting the use of this trend. This post is a simple observation of what is going on in women’s fashion.

Shape-wear is wonderful undergarment to use when not used in excess. There are different forms of shape-wear but lately waist trainers have been on the rage. Possibly because of endorsements by several celebrities, the quick transformations it provide, the boost in ego and/or the boost in compliments upon wearing it. For starters, this article of clothing has been around for centuries. It gained popularity in the Victorian era and fell out of fashion officially in the 20th century. It was still used afterwards as a medical device for those with spinal or internal problems. Today, waist trainers/corsets are used to achieve the hourglass figure. If your intention is for the look, I would suggest talking to a doctor to ensure that there are no medical repercussions, especially if you are tight-lacing. There are many different types, so doing your research about which one would fit your lifestyle, needs and size are important to consider.

Waist Trainers/Corsets can be worn to permanently cinch your waist or just for a particular outfit, either way consider these pros and cons about it….

Pros

1. when used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise, it can work

2. can improve posture

3. can be permanent over time

Cons

1. can be too tight and cause internal injuries/damage

2. discomforting

3. can be permanent over time

13 Years #9/11

13 Years

9-11

By: Ms. K

I can’t believe it has been 13 years

I will never forget that darkest moment

I never taught I would experience such a dark moment in my young adolescence life

I will never forget the heartbreak

The lost of hope, and lives

We felt lost that day

A day in modern American history that we suffer another great lost on American soil

Another time in history that was unexpected

Another time that innocent people lost their lives

They will never go home

They will never say goodbye

Lives were lost with the memories still lingering around!

The end of summer is near, however many of us are not yet ready to give it up. Transition into fall by still wearing your favorite summer items but pairing it with a cardigan, blazer, tights or vest in order to ward off the change in weather. For example, wear that summer dress but pair it with a blazer and tights to wear to work or a night on the town.
