It’s time to go BACK TO SCHOOL!! YAYY!! Some of you may not be as enthusiastic and I am not sure why I am considering I am not in school. I think a wave of nostalgia just hit me as I remember back to school shopping and seeing my friends after a long summer away. For now, I am content to be satisfied with Tax Free shopping and discounted prices on summer clothes. However, as much as I would like to go shopping at every store that states they have a sale, I don’t. Why? Because it’s a scam. Let me explain.

 Rape is no joke, being a victim should not create a hashtag like it’s an everyday lifestyle. No one should be degraded then have to witness the aftermath unfold via the web. Not only was her rape viral with photos and video,but a hashtag was created to continue mocking the incident and her pose.

“Raise Your Voice, Not the Sea Level”

June 5th is the United Nation’s call to raise awareness about our environment. World Environment Day is a day to encourage everyone about the conditions that are ravaging the earth. It is our duty to care and maintain our environment so that others after us can have fresh air to breathe and water to drink.

This year the United Nations have joined forces with the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to adopt climate change as its theme. As global warming increases, so does the ocean level. Those who live on the coast whether major cities, small towns or islands will be affected by this over the course of several years. As the sea level rises, many people will migrate further inland causing a disruption in the economy, community and environment. Let us take a stand to fight global warming, not just this day but everyday.

Congrats to all the graduates, especially the high school graduates leaving their parents wings and entering the real world. While most look at this time as a chance to be free from parental rule, party, and have fun do remember that it also a time where you learn the most of who you are. Whether you can balance your time and remember the good upbringing that your parents bestowed onto you. From a financial aspect, many of you might have worried incessantly about how you are going to pay for college, whether it is through loans, grants, scholarships or gifts. I hope you have not only factored in the cost of college but also the means of remaining in college.

Saturday May 17, 2014 was a special day for my not only was it my birthday, but I also was able to take part in the rally to bring back our girls. Over 230 Girls were kidnapped in North East Nigeria on April 15, 2014 . The girls are between the ages of 12 & 17 years old. They were abducted from their boarding school in Chibok, Nigeria.  “Bring back our girls” has finally become world news and government leaders are finally stepping in to make a difference. Even though it took some time for this important issue to get world recognition it is important for these girls to know they are important.
