I love working out. Yes, I do complain when my trainer is pushing me especially during high- intensity interval training (HIIT). I have a love/hate relationship for HIIT simply because of the interval training and no rest until your finish with a set, which can take up all your energy.

It’s the benefits of HIIT that I enjoy:

  1. Efficient
    1. It does not take up all day. If you have a busy schedule you can still squeeze in a workout either early in the morning, during a lunch break, after work or before bedtime. As mention in Shape magazine “Research shows you can achieve more progress in a mere 15 minutes of interval training doing it 3x a week then jogging on a treadmill for an hour.” Continue reading “HIIT”

Building a Community with Fitness

When it comes to being fit it takes a lot of dedication and motivation. We all have our high moments when we are losing weight and it feels great, then we reach our plateau where we are not losing any weight.  We still feel committed until a day rest turns into two days, then 3 weeks until you have to find the motivation to get back into working out. Some times we don’t find the motivation,  and we go months, and months without working out until we gain all our weight back.  Its at that moment we feel defeated, and starting over is not fun, but we have to back into the workout groove.

I am not going to lie, I don’t always follow the 80/20 rule in fitness. For the last two months I have been following a vegetarian lifestyle. The last two weeks have been the hardest with trying to eat healthy and working out. Looking back at my pictures I realize I haven’t ran in two weeks. I basically been slacking with my workout. Plus I have been eating out more, and drinking.

My Running Chronicles

My Running Chronicles

I can’t believe it has been two weeks since my last running. Don’t get me wrong I use to hate running, now I enjoy running outside. The reason for the lack of running was because of our move, and simply being busy editing and fixing my first poetry book “Summer Bliss.” Continue reading “My Running Chronicles”

Its the small changes that keep me going. Fitness to me is not a victory race, instead its a lifestyle change.  I wanna show how much, I value my transformation. When every #tbt comes I just look at my old pictures as a constant motivation to keep going.

I am all about transforming my body into something better. Looking back at my past  four birthdays since the age of 25 my body has transform for the better. I’m not going to say  journey has been easy, but deciding to get healthy and get fit has been a right choice for me. I am not talking about getting skinny because being skinny does not mean being healthy. I am talking about eating right, working out and making lifestyle changes that will only enhance your journey.

My Fitness Journey: Running

Color Run

Let me start by saying a year ago I truly  dislike running. I could not run for a minute straight without stopping to walk. I never saw myself running or even attempting to train myself into running. Now lets fast-forward to last Saturday May 10, 2014 and I took part in my first 5k color run.

The journey leading up to  running 3.1 miles was rough, slow, and mentally challenging at times. I just kept telling myself why I started this journey. I started this journey to change my life. My motivation that keeps me going is to one day becoming a mother. As I stated in my article “Stop the Clock” my endocrine doctor told me I needed to change my life. Losing weight is one of my attempts to know I am doing whatever I need to become a mother.

I train to get better, I know the difference between fit and fat is “I.” I am not a perfect runner but I will get better. I started this journey to change and one day run a half marathon. After finishing this 3.1 miles I am more determine to continue training until I can run 13.1 miles.

I finish my 5k in 45 minutes. I am proud of myself for not stopping, and not quitting. Now that school is out for the summer my trainer already told me its time  for pain. I can’t wait especially since the pain will be outdoors.
