At this point in the year, there are 3 directions you should be able to figure out where your finances are headed. Your finances can either be a rocket, a sparkler or a dud

The Rocket

This year you really lit a fuse under your finances and kicked things into high gear. Nothing nor no one can stop you from achieving your goals. Maybe you have a deadline, or a change of attitude about your financial situation; whatever it is, it has changed you for the better. Debt is being cleared, money being saved and your credit score improving are all signs of a rocket clearing a path to your financial goals.

The Sparkler

A sparkler is someone who started out strong but is steadily fizzing out. This person had good intentions to make a change in their life in order to achieve their financial goals. Initially, they established a routine, started to save money and cut down on spending; but as we hit our mid-year mark, old habits begin to reappear. This old habits could be related to an event that occurred or becoming discouraged about the process.

The Dud

A dud is someone that failed. When I say “failed”, I mean in the sense that they never attempted to make an effort at it. This person most likely talked about getting their finances together this year so that they can do this or that; but the year started and continued and they are in the same position as last year. At this point, you hear less/no discussions about making a change and you begin to realize that this person is comfortable living paycheck to paycheck and not accomplishing their dreams.
